Why is there more than one show on at the same time on some nights?

We have multiple performance spaces in our own venues. We also often host shows in external venues too.
During busy periods and many weekends we often host multiple shows, often with similar lineups of comedians. Comedians will often be the opening act on one show and closing act on another so they are actually able to perform on more than 1 show on the same night, even if they have the same starting time.
